well, a tawny might last slightly longer, but a ruby is worth trying. as far as taste profiles go, they are very different animals and both are worth a try. a ruby is a vintage styled port. that means the nose and tastes are dominated by the fruit. they tend to be the "inky" looking ports that are fruit driven. The tawnys have contributions in the profile from the fruit, but it is tempered by the time it spends in oak. they tend to be a rich amber color and have a nuttiness on the nose and pallet. tey the ruby, then try a tawny. Or better yet.......grab a tawny and pour a glass of each side by side [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/smile.gif[/img]
