if it's your average tawny, then it could last forever. This includes your 10,20....50 year bottlings. A ruby or unaged vintage port will last several months. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on an aged vintage port (35+ years) or an aged colheita (vintage dated tawny style port) you should plan on consuming the bottle on the same evening that it's opened.
