1) I taste small amounts of maybe fifty wines per week (maybe 75 a DAY when we are on buying trips) but only actually consume maybe three bottles a week as my answer to #3 will explain.

2) I would say I have forgotten more about wine than Verne ever knew but I am blessed (cursed? ask!) with a nearly bug free memory matrix so I can generally drag up that DOC info about Squinzano or remember which 1971 Champagne was best in a Sushi vs Tete du Cuvee tasting we put on in the late eighties... BUT, I do this (buy, sell and write about wine) 24-7-365 and have for over two decades...

I find that I drink at LEAST as much high quality ale (mostly Belgians, some Brits and Germans and the odd Micro from the West Coast) as wine for two reasons: I taste wine all day for work and crave refreshment and something different when I get home and I eat a lot of spicy Thai, Indian and Oaxocan food that is better with beer anyway. ALSO, there has yet to be made the white wine that is more complex and food enhancing than, say, Orval, Chimay Cinq Cent or Rogue's new Chef Morimoto Soba Ale...
