Look for a Beaujolais. Any will do, except a Beaujolais Neuveau from '04 which is now dead (and the '05 won't be released until Nov).

Most Spanish reds available in the States are made from the Tempranillo grape and those are not "light" wines. However, a Rioja Crianza would probably make a very nice sangria, and those are indeed made from Tempranillo.
