Unless it gets tainted by an outside source, including airborne ones, the only thing that will make you sick is the fact that you didn't finish it sooner. To help you in the future you might want to pick up Andrea Immer's "Wine Buying Guide for Everyone" (less than $12 at Amazon). She includes a "survivor" guide for the over 400 popular wines she evaluates. This is time in the fridge for whites, and time on the countertop for reds. You do have to stick the cork back in them though!
