Hi Tlr, and welcome to the Wine Board. Maderia is an ancient sweet wine from the Canary Islands, a Portugese possession. It is a type of wine with many brands and prices. The color is that of amber ale. Unless you are one of Martha's neighbors, would not ever consider to combine it with butter, and baste turkey. Sweet Cizano would provide at least as interesting flavor at a much lower cost.
