Zinfandel is and always has been a red grape. Until the 1980s it was always a red wine too--dry, beautiful wine.

White Zinfandel was created to both get rid of a glut of grapes and to appeal to the sweet tooth of America.

There are many real red Zinfandel wines on the market.
