Drink what you like, for sure. Some feel that White Zin is a good match for Southern style barbecue.

But if you want to branch out, you might see if you have a wine in your area called Vivacious Vicky. It comes in a white and a red, but the white is closer to what you're used to drinking. It's made by Kiona Vineyards in Washington State(white is from Chenin Blanc). It's my experience that many people, including newbies, like this wine.

If you're willing to try something that's typically a bit drier, lots of people love Pinot Grigio.
