Let me add my welcome. I agree with WOW on the Chianti Classico. The one from Cecchi is excellent and affordable ($10 more or less). However, Chianti is best enjoyed with food. Many people including me don't care for it before or after eating, and that could easily include you.

An alternative wine that will both go with the spaghetti and taste fine by itself is Barbera. Look for Barbera d'Alba or Barbera d'Asti. The less expensive ones are the better ones for these purposes. The more expensive ones are more complicated too. Look for those under $15.
