Visited Lubbock this week and three of the four wineries there with good friends; the fourth, Pheasant Ridge was closed and only open Fri-Sun.

The three we visited were Lllano Escatado, Cap*Rock, and McPherson Cellars. Tasted 5-6 wines at each but only bought 2-3 at each. Tasting notes will follow much later when they're consumed with food.

Took along a few as gifts for our hosts.... one was an unoaked Chardonnay, the Albert Ponnelle Bourgogne Blanc, and it turned out Chardonnay was his favorite wavietal; he had never tried one without oak, and had his eyes opened. Snagged a case for him at Costco this morning, and our traveling companions will take it with them when they visit again in three weeks.

What else could we do for a most generous couple who opened their 19,000 sq ft home for us? Wonderful people.
