Ironstone Vineyards Obsession is produced from the Symphony grape (developed in CA in the 60's and a cross between Muscat of Alexandria and Grenache Gris--two grapes whose wines I normally don't purchase or consume). I bought one bottle at a wine dinner where I believe it was served as the dessert wine. However, I see it more as an apperitif or with dinner.
Grapes picked at 22 Brix and fermented in stainless steel. Label says "Delicious accompaniment to spicy dishes." I say no.
Nose was grapey and herbaceous. I thought I detected some lemony scents also but that may be due to the lemon chicken I was eating.
The wine tasted chewy in the mouth. It seemed to match well with the lemon chicken and mushrooms and wild rice but I wouldn't go seeking another bottle, even at the low wine-searcher price of $6-$7 per.
