Austin Robaire Cabernet

Here are all of the wines that I tasted when visiting the winery:

1999 Austin Robaire, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington, 221 cases, $26. Their first release is well-structured, with brisk acidity and great balance. The wine yields lots of dark fruit and cocoa, with a streak of vanilla and anise coming forth on the long finish. 88/90.

2000 Austin Robaire, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington, $26, 160 cases. Similar in style to the 1999 version, the 2000 has about 10% more Cabernet Sauvignon in the final blend, showing a bit more structure. Full-bodied, the dense black fruit is delightful. November release. 89/91.

2000 Austin Robaire, Cabernet Sauvignon, Select, Columbia Valley, Washington, $52, 50 cases. This is your big boy, made in a Leonetti style. Lots of extract and new oak ushers in a host of chocolate flavors. As big as the wine is, it manages to maintain a degree of balance. Rounded tannins and bright acidity add to the overall package. Very nice if you like the style. November release. 91/89.

2001 Austin Robaire, White Wine, Charmaine Angela, Columbia Valley, Washington, $26, 60 cases. This is a blend of 65% Viognier and 35% Chardonnay. Very floral on the nose, the honeysuckle is a most prominent. Fruity, spicy, with surprisingly brisk acidity, the wine finishes on a leesy note. 87/86.

Pretty darn nice start for a winery IMHO.
