Popped a 1997 Belle Pente, Willamette Valley, Maresh Vineyard, Pinot Noir last night. The typical pinot garnet color was crystal clear. Black cherries upfront were followed by balanced acid and a suggestion of oak. The lingering finish helped the compatibility with the grill panned pork chops. This is a combo, pinot and pork, that many of you seem to agree with. The chops were olive oiled and sprinkled with Penseys' Pork Chop Seasoning on one side, and olive oiled and sprinkled with Penseys' Bay Leaf Seasoning on the other. Mmmmm good.
