This everyday table red is a blend of Syrah, Merlot, and Cab from Columbia Valley fruit. Syzygy is a small winery located in the "airport wine ghetto" in Walla Walla. We purchased it during the offline gathering out there a few years back with Wonders, KC, Kathy, et al. Decanted at first pour. Deep reddish-purple hue, with a nose of black cherry, red plum, an herbal note (somewhat like sage and/or thyme -- like T-giving stuffing spices), and a whiff of milk chocolate. Spicy fruit flavors also show the herbs and there is some licorice in there that gained in intensity as the wine opened up. Anne thought there was some chocolate element on the finish, but I didn't find it as pronounced as you'll get with some WA reds (Bookwalter's table red is a prime example). Nicely complex and fun to drink. Seems at the top of its game, though another year or two will probably resolve the remaining tannins. 14.5% alc. We paid about $20 at the winery.

I still regret not buying Anne the Syzygy logo thong in the gift shop, which was one of the funniest things I've ever seen for sale in a tasting room.
