Tasted this last weekend at Betz's new digs (which is a great damned facility) and was floored by the aromatics. It was like being flirted with by a glass of wine: "You like that aroma? Here, try THIS one!" Kept on revealing new scents for a good three minutes. On the palate, gorgeous. Plums, tobacco, violets, blackberry, blueberry, graphite, cassis, and light toastiness. Easily the most graceful Woodinville wine I've ever tasted. According to Tanzer, will age for ten-fifteen years. Perfect balance, long finish. $47 and worth more than that. We got two cases each of it and the Clos de Betz, which was just as complex and compelling but needs more of a lay-down period than the Pere. If you have a chance to buy these, I urge you to do it.
