Since the chestnuts will lend a smoky and sweet note to the soup, I would recommend a slightly off-dry German Riesling (such as Dr. LoosenÂfs basic Riesling). The sweetness in both the soup and the wine will balance well, while enhancing the smokiness of the chestnuts.
