I just got back from a little trip to historic Wiliamsburg, VA. We took the tasting tour of the Williamsburg Winery ($7.00 for 7 tastes) and I, even know-nothing I, was underwhelmed. The Governor's White which is supposed to be the most popular white wine produced in Virginia was pretty blah compared to the great ones we tasted in the Finger Lakes. One of the reds was memorable--the Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve that sold for $32. per bottle. The regular cab was very light in color and body. I didn't even care for the Late Harvest Vidal dessert wine, which as you know is unusual for moi. The man who ran the tour was rather ill-humored which kind of put a damper on everyone's mood. Sisterdear said, "So where is the owner to give us the tasting tour and spend time with us? Where is our own private room? No water to rinse out the glasses in-between?" Think the Finger Lakes treatment spoiled us much?
