Mike Dutton forced this on me... I swear he did. I said no Virginia wines and Vwoila...one day a package appeared on my doorstep containing the above wine, and others.
Beautiful color, like a bright, clear, dark black/ruby. Complex nose of bright and dark fruits, chocolate, vanilla, alcohol and confectioners sugar. Flavors matching the nose with a long finish where some drying tannins kick in with a little bitter component and some pepper. This is a 9 grape blend of:
32% Mourvedre, 27% Carignan, 25% Syrah, 5% Tinta Cao, 5% Touriga Nacional, 3% Tannat, 1 % Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec and 1% Nebbiolo...whew!! Kinda like a cross between a Zin, syrah and cab franc. I enjoyed the nose as much as the flavors. 13.3% Alc/vol and drank the whole bottle myself and I!
Thanks Mike.
