There are far more knowledgeable wine/food pairing folks on this board than me, but I thought I'd chime in as I recently had portabello burgers (minus the gouda, as I'm vegetarian). I had a wine called Stump Jump from d'Arenberg (Australia) that worked well for me. It's a grenache/shiraz blend, and it's pretty widely available for me in Atlanta for about $10.

I'll be interested in what others suggest!
