2001 Domaine Des Roches Neuves, Germain, Saumur Champigny, Red Loire Table Wine ($11.99 Chambers Street). Clear garnet color met the eye. Ample red fruit on the nose and upfront. Cassis, red raspberries, fine herbs, and a little chalk crossed the palate accompanied by very smooth tannin. The finish rang a couple of bells. Acidity was a little tart on the aperitif glass, but problem vanished when food was introduced. A wonderful food wine.

Matched with well seasoned burgers, and vinaigrette laced salad (mostly from our garden and all from Maine). Happiness is having two more to enjoy, and the possibility of getting more.
