Growing up my whole family had a Christmas tradition-- we'd go to a movie in the afternoon, then go out to eat Chinese or Thai food, then drive around and look at all of the lights. My parents must have worried that my brother and I felt left out on Christmas, but we always considered ourselves lucky to have 8 days of the holiday!

Last night I had a couple of gentile friends over. They were curious about Hannukah, so they joined in the lights and prayers and gifts. We played some Dreidel and made vegan gluten-free pizza (turned out great!).

Drank '01 Anne Gros white Burg before dinner and while playing dreidel. Terrific stuff I got on closeout for $16 or so.

Had '00 Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexander (reserve) Cab Sauv. Was pretty good, but not as exciting as I'd hoped.

We cracked and roasted the mixed nuts we were playing Dreidel for and drank a bottle of Alvear's Amontillado (Montilla) with. Fabulous sherry for $12. Highly recommended if you can find it. It's imported by a small local importer here, so I'm not sure what its distribution is like.
