Glad to hear everyone seemed to have nice and enjoyable weekends. Our last day of school was Friday, so Anne and I celebrated with a NV Perrier Jouet Grand Brut. I've heard that their quality has gone downhill for some years, but we enjoyed it. Nice, tiny bubbles and subtle flavors. We then moved to a Gruet Brut, which we enjoyed as we always do. Bigger bubbles and bigger flavors. Not sure which we preferred. On Sat., we had two bottles of 2001 Las Rocas de San Alejandro (the old vines one, not the '02 which we've heard is damn yummy, too). Simply awesome, and the best sub $15 wine we've had -- perhaps ever. On Sunday, we popped a Bonny Doon Ca del Solo Malvasia Bianca, which was nice, as always, and then topped it off with a Mionetto Prosecco. It was simple, but tasty. Got some interesting banana notes from it. Last night, Anne took a break from the vino with the work week starting again, so I took out a Shooting Star Lemburger from Wash St. Not much to speak of, though with some red and black fruits and some funkiness. It was my first taste of Lemburger, so I don't know if the funkiness was typical of the grape. We ate most meals out, avoiding the cooking routine. I've got the week off, then will start in the summer camp for 4, 5 and 6 year-olds. I'll try some more interesting wines this week, hopefully, and post as appropriate.
