Memorial Day

Had a great weekend, with the wedding of our one & only daughter to a fine young buck in the courtyard of a downtown hotel. We had moved down there for the rehearsal Saturday and stayed until this afternoon, to minimize the running around (except for coming back out to go to church yesterday). It went off very well indeed, except for the oppressive heat and humidity. (Truck is showing 102F right now, and heard report that the heat index is 113, so it was close to those numbers last night.) Only had to bark at the staff a couple of times.... once for serving me an oxidized remnant of Col. Crest Cab/Merlot left over from someone else's affair at least two days earlier, another for losing one of my six room reservations. Grr. But it would definitely have been cheaper if they had taken my bribery offer and run off to Lost Wages.

Remembering the many names on the Wall, and those who came before them, and those who have fallen since. We can only be grateful and remember them and thank their families for their sacrifice.
