I can not agree with James Suckling that he has picked the 50 best wines that Italy has to offer. Re: WINE SPECTATOR Feb Issue lead article "The Best of Italy, James Suckling rates Italy's 50 Most Exciting Wines."


He hardly bothered to expand his taste buds beyond Piedmont and Tuscany. Then he hits on wines that are mostly Super Tuscans or International Style from small or limited productions that cost lots of bucks. On top of that most will never make it to America.

Only the elite and monied few benefit from articles like his. What good is that to the rest of us. There are some very good wines from Friuli and Abruzzi, which he seems to have ignored.

What a shame.............
