True Story: Went to a birthday party last night, a large gathering of about 40 people. There was the usual table where everyone puts their wine for all to enjoy. My exp. at bigger gatherings
is that you will have a range from Trader Joe's
5-10 dollar whatever to an occasional decent Ca Merlot. The Coppola wines are popular among people I know. So I'm at said wine table looking at the swill, I'm about to make a gin and tonic instead of the dreck wine, when some guy walks in with a blonde in one arm and a nicely wrapped bottle in another. He sets the wine down and goes off to introduce his date to the hosts. Some football player with a big neck grabs the nicely wrapped bottle, tears it open and says, "well if I can't read the label, I ain't drinkin' it." He sets the bottle down, I pick it up, 1997 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino!! My heart stopped. I opened the bottle poured myself a full plastic cup and rejoiced. I spent the next hour hording that bottle, I kept it hidden behind a bottle of cheap Chilean Pinot. I shared the Brunello with my wife. She seemed worthy. Later on I saw the owner of the bottle, he was drinking a Budlight!!

What a night, by the way Brunello is ok with birthday cake!
