Dutton, unless we know the customer we do not hold wine for a few days--got burned doing that. What if it is the last of that wine and a truly good customer comes in to buy it?; we say it is on hold for someone else; he gets angry; the someone else does not show up; we get angry. But of course, if we tell someone we will put the wine aside we put it aside.

In your situation I would have offered to pay a deposit or all the money for the wine and then arrange either for a delivery or a future pick up. That way, I am committed and the retailer is also committed.

As for the discount: we discount mixed cases just as we discount one-item cases. But in some states it used to be (and may still be) illegal to discount mixed cases.
