USA 3-Portugal 2. Unbelievable! I thought the one on one performances by McBride (especially in the air) against Coutu and Sanneh against Figo were particularly noteworthy.

An upset of this magnitude calls for something sparkling, of course, and we duly broached the 1996 S. Anderson Brut Rose at 5:00 a.m. I love the smell of sparkling wine in the morning. Nice mousse, small bubbles, could hold a bit longer; Pinot evident with strawberry in the midpalate and hints of mushroom on the finish; suitably dry and very pleasant.
