Hi Gettingmarried, and welcome to the Wine Board. Need a little more information here. What are the guests going to be drinking before dinner? Will there be a Champagne toast? Knowing your location will help making available recommendations. Are you really hard on the point of only one wine? There are almost the same number of people who prefer red and white. Your menu could be supported with either a light red or a beefy white. Both wines would need a good belt of acidity (crispness) to handle some of the menu items, e.g. salad and asparagus.
