6"-12" in parts of North Carolina. Non-essential personnel did not have to report to Fort Bragg Thursday but were told to come in on a two-hour delay Friday.
I'm supposed to work this evening for a reservists' Civil Affairs officers class. Half the class are stranded in Dallas, Cincinnati, Charlotte, NC etc. I'm negotiating with the principal instructor to close down at 6:30 PM instead of 9:00 PM as slush may turn to ice after dark. (I think we are compromising at a 7:00 PM closure.) On the day off yesterday I enjoyed a Lingenfelder Bird Label Riesling (notes later) and a couple shots of the tawny port opened on New Year's Eve. I didn't enjoy Nebraska's loss to Miami although we did win the second half! I was rooting for NU to get one more touchdown to make the score respectable. Barnesy, Bucko and other Northwesterners--Oregon and Joey Harrington were really impressive in the Fiesta Bowl!
