Known simply as "shitforfrenchies" The poor Bordelais are faced for the first time since the 77 vintage of lowering their futures prices for the 2001 vintage. Some of the cuts are as high as 50% of the price offered for the 2000 vintage. Reports are that the vintage is very good, so maybe now the realization is setting in that the "NetWork" syndrome is settling in on the American wine buying public. And they are not by themselves. Just got an E-mail from a reputable dealor in San Fran offering for the 1st time the following...98 Phelps Insignia 79.95, 98 Araujo Cab 125, 98 Spottswood 79.95, 98 Etude Cab 69.95, 98 Dalle Valle 125. These are wines that normally have them collector fellers lining up 5-deep to buy at any price. The 98s' seem to have hit a road-block. Wonder if We'll see Heidi at the Salvation Food Bazaar in Napa?
