White wine suggestions

Look for white port or Madeira--fortified; the latter is produced on the island of Madeira from white grapes; its alcohol ranges from 17 to 20 percent. It is not cheap, but a glass a night (4 ounces) will make a bottle last a minimum of six nights. There are five Madeiras: Rainwater, Sercial, Verdelho, Bual, and Malmsey. The first one is the least expensive.
