Great book, seems like a no brainer for a movie in the aftermath of Sideways.

Two things struck me:

The Nazis march into Paris in the spring of 1940 and the restaurants are serving Burgundies from the teens and Bordeaux from the last century! Talk about some "whiskers" on them. Wouldn't that be wondrous in todays restaurant business?

The famous Vouvray producer Huet going on about how "they made us put kerosene in the barrels to ensure that the wine would be distilled into tank fuel. Wine you can replace but some of those barrels were over 50 years old and everyone knows that the older the barrels the better the wine!" And he is talking about WHITE wine.
