Had our first Hedges GMS (2000) last night. Picked it up in Maryland during our April trip. After decanting, had my first glass before dinner. It tasted, as many of our novices say, very dry. Think it may have been tannin on the tongue. Once very special burgers came off the mesquite smoked fire, the wine transformed into an excellent food wine. Accompanied by an wonderful salad, it held its own. Lost track of the exact cost, but think it was around $10. Would definitely get more, if found, as a super hamburger wine.
