Several items are used for fining:

Bentonite - An aluminum-silica clay product

Silica Gel

Casein - A milk protein

Isinglass - Dried air bladder of the sturgeon

Egg Whites

Gelatin

Dried Blood - Acts about the same as gelatin. It is out of favor now due to the potential for serious viral infections.

The first four are often used in white wines. Drink up, the wines are safe, although dried bladder does not present a pretty mental picture.
