My favorite corkscrew of choice is the Screwpull pocket model. If a cork breaks, you can take on the screw bit, angle it to the side and manually extract that puppy. Never had a disaster with this one.

That said, I broke one trying to get a cork out of a bottle one time. The AhSo was the only thing that worked.
