No, Beck's Dark (Beck's is considered the Budweiser of Germany) is a mass-produced dark lager in the southern-German style and bears no resemblance to any Altbier, which is a dark ale traditionally from Düsseldorf, Germany, and normally conditioned over a relatively long period of time. I've never seen any beers from that brewery out here in the west, but Altbiers are delicious (if you like them a little more bitter than your average ale). Try comparing it to one of the authentic German producers, like Ürig, Diebels, or Schlosser. Prost!
