>>>And I would argue that "those people" have the ability to make their own choices and don't need to hear from those of us who "know better". It's an unwelcome message and the more you shove the message that they're wrong down their throats, the more they are rooted to their position.<<

Again, this is not what I said or what we do.When I was in grade school (in the sixties) we were taught critical thinking as a subject in the context of a history course: how to evaluate the source, reliablilty and bias of information and make our own decisions about things. This has been chased out of most schools (possibly by religious types???) and the ad weasels have their way with the public.

By teaching folks to deconstuct marketing hype, ad nonsense and such we are not telling them "we know better so you are wrong" we are showing them "you haven't been told the whole story, some people don't want you to know the whole story and here is some more information for you to use in your choices". The big boys do NOT want you to have more info, they want brand loyalty and spend millions to get it by casting small quality producers as "off brands" (a concept we reject outright).

Anyone else got an opionion on any of this, I'm tired of crying alone in the wilderness and am about to cross the River Jordan into the land of Caschacha and Bum-Bums, Roberto
