I e-filed today. It took 4 1/2 hours for both feds and state. Learning curve considerably shortened for next year. It cost nothing for the fed and $8 for the state. You just get you stuff together and go to www.irs.gov, and click on e-filing and answer a couple of questions. They refer you to a commercial e-filer. We chose TaxACT. Already received notice that the returns have been received by recipiants, and will hear in 3 days fed, and 5 days state if all is OK.

On a related subject since this was my first year of drawing social security, I was delighted to find that I had to claim 85% of it as new taxable income. Must be something thought up by Democrats.
