Read it today. Thanks, Foodie.
One of my parents' friends was an AP reporter but I'm not sure if he was reporting for them during World War II or shortly after the war. When he was based out of New York City he bought a home in Connecticut. My uncle, a lawyer on Wall Street, later bought that home in Connecticut when the reporter changed careers and moved back to the Midwest. The reporter's daughter, one of my sister's closest friends, spend a few years working in Manhattan for "Time/Life" magazines, possibly as a researcher or copy editor--I'm not sure of her duties. She too moved back to the Midwest and worked for a time for the University of Nebraska Press. I guess the writing bug hit more than one generation.
