My father-in-law, who was a journalist, wrote for the Stars and Stripes during WWII. He was assigned to Eisenhower's information staff and so he got to be eyewitness to some events like the first concentration camp discovery and the surrender on May 8.

He is the fellow on the left of the first pic on the page. He went on to edit for the NY Herald Tribune and then the N Y Law Journal. His son, David (also a journalist first USA Today, now Businessweek) is on his way to Europe to represent his dad, who died a few years ago, in VE celebration events this weekend.
