WW - Font Villac is a Grand Cru actually (far from one of the best, but its also very reasonably priced) - and yes its 100% Merlot! Check it out, as I said, its cheap.

Regarding French vs Californian...I was just running my mouth (and maybe mentioning a personnal preference)...of course I have tasted many a good californian wine...but imho, with the skyrocketing price of wine in the US and the high dollar I have been finding that you can get better value with French wine in many cases. I would love to see an old world / New world debate...sure its pointless, but we argue about lots of pointless things folk (like whether pregnant chads should be counted)
