My rep from Click Imports of Seattle brought in this nicely packaged bottle of Chilean Cab called "Root:1". It's a production of Peter Click, the owner of Click and the same guy who created the Buckeley's Aussie wines, and Vina Ventisquero, a Chilean cooperative owned by Agrosuper. The winemaker is Felipe Tosso, formerly of Concha y Toro. It's 85/15 Cab/Syrah. The Syrah come from the Apalta Vineyard that produces Clos Apalta and Montes Alpha M and the Cab is from the Trinidad vineyard in the Maipo Valley. It's a real, honest grown-up Cab that oozes varietal character and has some stuffing. The package is gorgeous and the price is under $15. I don't know how widely Click is distributing it but if you've seen the Buckeley's in stores where you are, you'll probably see this. It's definitely worth the bucks.
