Saw this in Costco today and thought I would grab for dinner tonight. I remembered reading about it in a trade rag that said it was a great drink.

Corked it and let it air for close to an hour and a half, then enjoyed with some spicey porkchops. Bad pairing. This wine is huge.

Tons of fruit on the nose with plums, dark fruit, chocolate and a touch of spicy pepper. Dark ruby in the glass. The drink is thick and jammy with blackberry, blueberry, a little pepper and vanilla flavored oak. The finish lasted as long as any wine I have tried in months. Just went on and on and on like the Energizer Bunny. Very interesting.

This wine borders on being over the top, but had decent acidity, structure, and is not too hot. Alc is 14.5, but it stays in its place.

Needs red meat off a hot grill for better pairing. My wifes poor pork chops disappeared, but it was all good to me as I was up for something different.

29.99 at Costco. I plan to buy more as it reminds me a lot of high end Cali Syrah (this is a good thing to me), more so than the admitedly limited Aussie Shiraz I have tried.
