Bereich (district) of Wonnegau
Imported by Sam Zahran & Sons, Inc., Fayetteville, NC. Bottled and shipped by A. Weigand of Bingen on the Rhine.
White Rhine wine QmP A.P.# 342 315 025 95
9.5% alcohol by volume

This was surprisingly drinkable. It was a cheap wine to begin with and at ten years old I wasn't expecting much. Not even sure if its from the Riesling grape (label doesn't say). Klosterdoktor is something of a nebulous name meaning monastery doctor and may be used to invite comparisons to a more famous Mosel wine or to suggest medicinal benefits of the wine.

Amber gold color with orangey tints. Apricot nectar aroma along with flowery honeysuckle. Flavors of apricot nectar and baked apple. Balanced, not cloying. Surprisingly good. Best by itself or with stone fruits (peaches, nectarines, apricots).
