I was in Chicago this week and had dinner at Avec (www.avecrestaurant.com, I recommend it if in the area). I've always liked the place and its wine list. Anyway, they had this wine, a campo de borja, grenache-syrah, for $29. I had their version of a "glass," which is really a little carafe containing about a third of a bottle for $10. I loved it. It was a light-bodied, fragrant wine, perfect for tapas and small mediterranean plates. It tasted more like a cabernet franc than a grenache-syrah, and very well balanced - very nice summer fare. I thought it was a great QPR, until I came home and saw it at Canal's for... $5. Now that is a deal. Even if you can only get it for $10, give it a try.
