To my surprise, I found Grgich's zinfandel too young to drink. Correct me if I am wrong, but since its an organically produced zin, its earthy and shows minerality that I enjoy now, but feel like it would improve with 2-4 years in the bottle. Not as fruit forward as the other Cali zins out there, and certainly more tannic complexity. I busted out an 04 in comparison and found it to be well balanced and tannins that have smoothed out, ripe fruit, pepper and a bite of wood!
