Smooth Merlot

Several on the board enjoy Bogle Merlot which is fruity and very affordable (often $10 or less). I also like Falesco Umbria Merlot from Italy and IK likes Collio Merlot (an Italian regional wine not as widely available as the Falesco brand). Beyond that, merlot is sometimes better appreciated in a blend rather than on its own. (I also liked the Irvine Merlot from Australia which is a bit more expensive.)
