Opened this up on Tuesday night. Had to work on my day off; so aftewards (midnight) I opened this. I didn't want to decant; I was afraid it would fall apart. That was unfounded. The nose at first was full of funk and turpentine. The palate was almost non-existant at the front, but the mid and back palate was youthful and full. I also opened up an Altimura '97 at the same time; this was my back-up. I'll put the notes in the Cab section. That one wasn't ready either so we opened up Worthy '03 and thier next label Truth '03. We quaffed these while waiting for the other two to open.

The merlot finally opened up at around 3:00am. And wow! Red cherries, dried currants, and a hint of wet earth. The fruit was youthful; the mouthfeel was on it's game; the nose was outstanding. No more turpentine. I love it when fishing for wine works out!
