2003 Pelican Point Premier Merlot

Enjoyed a few glasses of this (Left by a dinner-party guest earlier that week) during Sunday dinner at my mothers place. Looked like a run-of-the-mill cheap and cheerful, but turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Tons of ripe berryfruit flavours, lightly-oaked, but a great spiceyness (almost an Aussie shiraz-like flavour) and a very nice finish. Seems to be only available from mail-order wine clubs, so I'm not sure of the price point. I'd happily drink it again, though.
