2005 Boekenhoutskloof, The Wolf Trap, Franschhoek S.A. ($10 more or less at Whole Foods). This is a Rhone type wine consisting of: Syrah 65%, Cinsault 19%, Mourvedre 11%, and Viognier 5%. Alcohold level: 14%. Dark red-black color on the eye. Also red-black fruit on the nose and tongue tip. Nice complexity with smooth, smokey bacon and spice flavors overshadow subdued, mellow cherry and blackberry fruit in the middle. It left us with a nice black currant finish.

Decanted a half hour befor dinner, and it should have been an hour. It was a little sharp to begin with, but smoothed out quickly.

Matched it with Cous Cous, and spinach. Lovely.
